It’s finally happening! We’re now officially opening for workshops where we’re offer three different classes for people to gain more knowledge and take a deep dive into these areas. The workshops offered are whetstone grinding, knife usage basic and advanced cutting technics.
This idea came up after years of being around and demonstrating our knives where customers kept telling us to hold classes about different topics.
At first it felt little as a joke and unreal, though after some time we started listen to the feedback and here we are now, already some months in, of our new concept.
What a success it has been with fully booked workshops months ahead. The one workshop we have mainly focused on is the unique whetstone workshop held by Ryda’s own grinding master consultant Christoffer Ek who is the owner of Sweden’s eldest grinding company Muhréns Sliperi. Our aim is small groups during 2-2,5 hours so each attendee get time for personal feedback and the teachers full attention.
The other workshops are held by Viktor Ingemarsson founder of Ryda Knives and Rickard Eliasson former chef colleague to Viktor. During this class we go deep into each different design of knives and how you should use them to get the most out of them.
Adding to this, we also we make plenty of space to, and come close to correct the grip and cutting style. To provide a muscle memory in your wrist so you will keep this knowledge onwards. Therefore, after you have attended our class, you will be a more confident person in the kitchen.
We had some following up meetings with a few people that went to the workshops because we always want to make sure we’re keeping a high standard and responsive to requests. It really warms our hearts when we hear such positive words about how they have developed their techniques and been able to take home new knowledge that they have put into practice back home.
For us, we’ve had this knowledge with us for so long since we’ve spent around 15+ years in a kitchen. Surely, I would never like to be without my cutting skills, and it gives me so much joy knowing we are able to pass some of this on to others. As it’s a huge difference to know how to use a knife properly, to use it faster and much safer and with this the self-esteem that comes with it.
If you would like to join the workshops of Ryda Academy, please write to us!
